Recycled materials policy
While the use of recycled materials may reduce costs, and is positive for the environment, customers should be aware that recycled materials by their very nature can be inconsistent and variable from batch to batch. This can affect specifications in any ropes and twines products made from recycled materials, including but not limited to the breaking strength, meters per kilogram, diameter and colour. Pentagon Corporation (Pty) Ltd does not accept any liability or responsibility for variations from target specifications in products made from recycled materials, however every effort is made to obtain the best quality recycled materials available.
Breaking strengths
The breaking strength of a rope is an average measure from a sample of ropes, which gives an indication of the point at which the rope is expected to break. While the information may be useful, the breaking strength observed in actual use may differ. Each individual rope coil may vary, and so too might the conditions under which each rope is used and maintained. Temperature, exposure to water or moisture, exposure to chemicals, UV exposure, dirt and abrasion can all effect the strength of a rope. For that reason it is important to observe a safety factor of 5 when using a rope. That is you should not apply a force greater than one fifth of the breaking strength. Avoid using a rope that shows signs of damage, degradation or wear.
